How to Organize a USTA Tournament
Instructions
-
-
1
Scout out a tournament site where competitions are to be held. The number and style of courts depends, of course, on the size and type of tennis tournament you want to hold.
-
2
Determine which events will be held, when they are to take place, and how much entry fees will be. Will it be exclusively a singles tournament, or are doubles competitions allowed also? Will there be age restrictions? How many matches are to take place?
-
3
Designate an organizer, tournament director, and referee. The referee must be certified by the USTA.
-
4
Plan logistical information pertaining to the facilities. Determine the number and size of available locker rooms, the number of bathrooms, shower facilities, facilities for eating and drinking, any lounge areas, and miscellaneous recreational facilities that might be needed.
-
5
Complete the official USTA application form (available from assets.usta.com) and mail it to Theresa Bowen, USTA, 70 West Red Oak Lane, White Plains, NY 10604.
