How to Organize an Archery Tournament
Instructions

1
Decide the stakes for the tournament. You can offer cash prizes or trophies, or you could run a professional tournament. You should also make the decision whether to follow the National Field Archery Association (NFAA) rules.
-
2
Find an area to hold the tournament. You need a large, open area, such as a campground. It also needs to be relatively isolated to ensure that hikers or others won't wander into the line of fire. Choose the date and secure the area on that date.
-
3
Determine the type of target and bows to use. Different arrangements and types of targets provide different skill levels.
-
4
Calculate the cost of the tournament. The prizes, whether cash or trophies, can be purchased from the entry fee. The actual cost of the tournament should be defrayed by gate charges.
-
5
Advertise the event. Sell tickets in advance. Send flyers to known archers and have a discount for early sign up to insure the funds.
-
6
Know if you're going to have refreshments for sale. Plan simple. You may want to have just drinks and bagged snacks and candy bars. If the event is an all-day affair, make arrangements for more substantial food.
-
7
Draft help. Make certain that there are plenty of people to man the gate, collect tickets, sign up the archers and sell refreshments.
