How to Join a Volleyball Team

Volleyball is a sport that challenges a variety of your muscle groups. Almost anyone can play and it's easy to find a volleyball team if you just follow these steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate a community nearby with a volleyball league. You can contact local community centers to find out if there is anyone around sponsoring a league. Check your YMCA schedule of activities and events. Local community colleges always have volleyball classes. Volleyball is typically played in the fall, but start inquiring at the end of summer to get involved.

Obtain a list of contact people. Once you've found a league, start calling around to see if anyone needs an additional player. Let them know you're interested. Offer to come to a practice to show off your skills. Maybe you can be an alternate or second string until the team needs you on a starting basis.

Network. If you play any other sport in the area, talk to your teammates. Perhaps one of them plays volleyball, too. Find out who they play with and contact that coach.

Start your own team and buy into an established league. If you can't find a team to play on, gather some people and start your own team. The object is to have fun and get to play, so the quality of players is not that important. Split the cost of the team with your teammates and prepare for a great season.
