Instructions

    • 1

Position yourself so that your defender is against your back. This is the natural position of a defender, so this shouldn't take much work.

    • 2

Reach back with one arm under the same side arm of your defender. Depending on how he or she is guarding you, you either want your elbow beneath your opponent's armpit, or you want to grab hold of your opponent's swimsuit. Maybe both.

    • 3

Lean into your defender, and use your eggbeater kick to turn both of you together. Turn toward the arm with which you are holding your opponent.

    • 4

Use your free arm, if you are not holding the ball, to stroke into your turn. If you are holding the ball, hold it at arm's length away from the defender. If the defender tries to get the ball from you, drop it, and the defender will be called for a foul.

    • 5

Turn with your defender the desired distance. Release your hold, and maintain your position or start swimming.
