Water Tubing in Connecticut
-
Public Waterways
-
The Connecticut River is an excellent place to take your tube. Centrally located and with plenty of boat launches, it is wide enough to safely tow a tuber. The Moodus Reservoir, Farmington River and Lake Housatonic are other worthwhile bodies of water that allow tubing.
Private Lakes
-
Woodbridge Lake is regarded as the premier private lake in Connecticut. Hitchcock Lake, on the borders of Wolcott, Cheshire, Southington and Waterbury, is another "owners only" lake that allows water sports including tubing.
Rental Packages
-
There are a few options for tubers looking to utilize a river's current rather than a boat. Foremost is a 2.5-mile stretch of the Farmington River where you can rent a tube and a life preserver for some white-water tubing. Echo Bay Marina on Candlewood Lake offers a selection of tubing packages as well.
