Naui to PADI Certifications

A number of training agencies certify scuba divers. To start a PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) course or to take part in certain activities such as deep diving, it is necessary to know a NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) certified diver's PADI certification equivalent.
  1. NAUI Scuba Diver

    • A NAUI Scuba Diver is the equivalent of a PADI Open Water Diver. A diver holding this certification is eligible to enroll in a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course.

    NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver

    • NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver is the same rating as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification. It is possible for NAUI divers holding this rating to enroll in a PADI Rescue Diver course.

    NAUI Master Scuba Diver

    • A NAUI Master Scuba Diver rating allows divers to start a PADI Divemaster course. It is the equivalent rating as the PADI Rescue diver certification, although the diver has not done as much rescue training.

    NAUI Divemaster

    • The first professional level of diving, NAUI and PADI Divemasters are the same rating, both allowing the diver to take part in a PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) to become an instructor. Extra training in the PADI system is advised for the NAUI Divemaster.

    NAUI Instructors

    • To teach PADI courses, NAUI Instructors must take the PADI IDC to cross over to be a PADI Instructor.
