Paddling With Fish Surfboards

Fish surfboards combine aspects of short boards and longer surfboard models to provide better flotation while keeping a board maneuverable. Fish shapes also include differences in the tail of the board to allow for better drive and speed in small or poor wave conditions. Paddling on your new fish is similar to other models but will require minor adjustments to get the best performance from your board.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay on the board with your chest about three-quarters of the way towards the nose of the board and your feet just reaching over the tail. Unlike other boards you may find yourself much closer to the nose of the board.

    • 2

Keep your legs and back straight and stiff so you don't lose power while you paddle.

    • 3

Arch your back to keep your weight forward without pushing the nose of the board under the water. Reach out with your right arm and pull down through the water. Reach out with your left arm once your right arm is behind you and pull down through the water with your left arm propelling yourself forward. Keep your back and legs straight while you paddle.
