High School Wrestler Goodie Bag Ideas From Cheerleaders
-
Bottled Water or Sports Drinks
-
One way that many wrestlers cut weight before a match is by sweating out water weight. You might find the wrestlers in the school sauna wearing a sweatshirt while jogging in place to lose 4 or 5 lbs. before weigh-in. After they make weight, then will want to replace those fluids so they can effectively wrestle. Give him a mix of bottled water and sport drinks such as Gatorade to help quench his thirst and rebalance his electrolytes.
Protein Bars
-
Many wrestlers are on a high protein diet. This keeps them muscular and lean, while at the same time in peak shape to wrestle. Wrestlers on a high-protein diet may be consuming 1 to 2 grams of protein for each pound of body weight. It can be a tall order to eat 150 to 300 grams of protein in a day. Therefore, providing protein bars in the goodie bag will give him a healthy snack, packed with protein. Look for protein bars that have only a few grams of sugar.
Warm-Up Suit
-
Some schools provide their wresters with warm-up suits for matches, while others do not. Either way, a wrestler can always use an extra warm-up suit that can be worn to either practice or matches. If the school store sells a warm-up suit, it can be purchased there, or you can design a suit using the high school colors, high school name, mascot name and even the mascot artwork. Another idea is to personalize the warm-up suit with his name on it.
Trial Size Toiletries
-
If the wrestler in your life takes showers in the high school locker room, then he will need a separate set of toiletries to keep in his locker. Purchase a couple sets of towels, deodorant, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and potentially even shaving cream and a razor. You might also fill the goodie bag with muscle rub ointment, band-aids, anti-bacterial cream and other first aid items the wrestler might need for a scrape, mat burn or cut. Additionally nail clippers and nail files can be helpful as wrestlers must keep their nails short so not to accidentally scratch or harm their opponents.
