How to Pass a Hydration Test for Wrestling
The human body is primarily composed of water found in the organs, muscles, and blood. Dehydration occurs if the body does not get sufficient amounts of fluid to replenish that which is lost through urination and perspiration. Muscle weakness and loss of stamina will occur if one is dehydrated even a little. Wrestlers are required to pass a hydration test prior to competing to ensure they are not cutting weight by purposely dehydrating themselves, since that is the fastest way to lose weight.
