1
Reserve a hall message board from the head of the school's recreation department.
-
2
Measure the width and height of the message board to determine how much butcher paper you'll need. Cover the message board with colored butcher paper.
-
3
Determine the title for your board, such as "Go Team!" or your high school's name or mascot. Write out the board's title. Trace the outlines of each letter onto colored construction paper with a pencil. For best results, alternate the school's colors for each consecutive letter. Cut out each letter along the traced lines with scissors.
-
4
Arrange the letters so that they're in the order they'll appear on the board. Place two or three pieces of masking tape on the backs of the cutout letters. Stick the letters along the top of the board.
-
5
Trace the outlines of cheerleading icons, such as pom-poms, bows and megaphones, and sports equipment, such as football helmets. Cut out each shape with scissors.
-
6
Place a piece of tape on the back of each cutout shape and stick them around the edges of the board.
-
7
Write the dates, times and opponents of upcoming cheerleading competitions or football games on the board with markers.
