How to Do a Chin Chin in Cheerleading

In order to do a chin chin, you must know how to do a scorpion and a liberty, since the chin chin is a variation of the liberty and similar to a scorpion. A chin chin requires 4 to 5 people. The top person performs it with the assistance of two bases and one back spot. A front spot is optional. The top person must have a great deal of flexibility and experience to pull off a successful chin chin.

Master the liberty before attempting a chin chin. When you're in the liberty position, you will be standing straight up with one foot in both of the base's hands and the other leg bent. The foot on the bent leg will be up under the back of your rear, making the thigh come straight out. The arms are straight up in a high "V" motion, which is above the head. Most top people perform the liberty with their right leg straight and the left leg bent.

Take your left hand and grab hold of your left foot (on the bent leg). Bring that foot up behind you as if you were going to do a scorpion, but instead of placing your foot behind your head, pull it to the side and place it below your chin.
