How to Do a Half Stand Cheerleading Stunt
Instructions
-
-
1
Start with the two base cheerleaders standing close together and facing each other.
-
2
Position the flyer behind the bases, facing forward. The bases should each grasp one hand of the flyer. As the flyer jumps up, the bases should help propel her upward and onto their hands or thighs, depending on the ability of the cheerleaders.
-
3
Have the flyer stand upright and position her arms up and out to create a "V" formation.
-
4
Show the bases how to support the flyer by using the strength of their hands or their thighs. If the flyer is standing on their thighs, the bases should support the flyer by grasping her ankles.
-
5
Exit the thigh stand by having the flier jump up and into a cradle. To do this, the flyer is caught in the arms of the two bases, or the bases grasp the flyer's hands and support her as she jumps down, just as they did when she jumped up.
-
6
Practice this cheerleading stunt until the bases can support the flyer on their hands and the flyer can pop up and down with ease and confidence. Mastering the thigh stand will prepare all the cheerleaders for more advanced cheerleading stunts.
