How to Do an Elevator in Cheerleading
Instructions

1
Gather four cheerleaders from your squad. Have the two strongest girls stand facing each other about a foot apart. These are the bases for the elevator.
-
2
Place the third cheerleader to either side of the bases, in a spot between the two girls. This is called the back spot. Have the two cheerleaders acting as the bases squat down, still facing each other, and place their hands out, palms up and slightly cupped.
-
3
Have the fourth cheerleader, called the flyer, step onto the palms of the bases. Make sure the flyer keeps her legs locked and rigid as the bases begin to slowly stand, supporting the flyer. Have the back spot steady the flyer throughout this movement.
-
4
Complete the elevator by having the bases and back spot raise the flyer up to their chins, supported on the palms of their hands and by the back spot supporting the flyer by holding the backs of her thighs. Have the flyer extend her arms over her head when she reaches the top of the position.
-
5
Hold the top position for several seconds, then have the bases and back spot slowly lower the flyer back to the starting position. The elevator has now descended and the stunt is over.
