How to Make a Cheerleading Scarf

Show your school or team spirit by making your own cheerleading scarf. Make the scarf out of fleece fabric using one or all of your team's colors. This scarf can be worn on cool nights or chilly mornings during games, pep rally's or competition events. The scarf can be worn by the cheerleaders, parents and team fans for a unified look. Instructions

    • 1

Measure and cut fleece fabric into two or three strips. You can make the scarf using one solid color or up to three different colors for all your team's colors. For an adult scarf, the strips should be about five inches in length and width, and for a child's scarf, the strips should be about three inches.

Lay the strips on top of one another and sew a straight line down the middle of the fabric lengthwise.

    • 3

Measure and cut one-inch wide slits horizontally into the fabric using the center seam as your guide. Be careful not to cut through the seam. Continue cutting to the left and right side of the seam, all the way down the entire length of the fabric. When done, the piece of fleece should look like fringe.

Separate the individual one-inch pieces using your fingers to fluff up the scarf.
