Self-Care Tips: Part Two
As an athlete, you have to work hard to be at your best. That being said, the hours of training and perfecting your stunts and routines can take a toll on you if you don’t take care of yourself. For this reason, it’s vital that you have a proper self-care routine in place to ensure that your body is getting the physical and mental rest that it deserves. In part one of this series, we discussed a few tips that you could use to fuel your self-care routine. As we continue with part two, we will provide you with three more tips that you can keep in your back pocket.
At WSA, we love to see all of our all star cheerleaders do their best and show us what they’ve got. Feed Your Inspiration
When the hours of practicing while also trying to balance your school and home life get to be too much, it can start to feel overwhelming. As a result, you may start to lose sight of the whole reason you wanted to become an all star cheerleader in the first place. When this happens, or you feel yourself starting to lose motivation, a good thing you can do to help keep your head in the game and boost your spirit is feed your inspiration. Was there a movie or TV show that inspired your passion for cheerleading? Is there a specific routine that always makes you feel alive? Whatever your inspiration may be, take some time to go back to that and remind yourself why you fell in love with this sport in the first place.
Drink A Lot of Water
It’s no secret that athletes need to drink a lot of water to help replenish their bodies after a practice or an intense workout. However, many of them forget that it’s also important to hydrate even when they aren’t practicing their stunts on the mat. Part of your self-care routine should involve caring for your body, and one of the best ways to do just that is to drink water. Your body may need more water than you realize, so it’s always a good idea to have a water bottle on hand and drink water throughout the day.
Do Something Relaxing
During the week, it’s likely that you work hard to manage life, school, and cheerleading, and in most cases, that doesn’t leave much time for relaxation. It’s very important that you give your body and mind time to relax, even if it’s just for half an hour at night before you go to bed — you may even be surprised at just how effective a little bit of relaxation can be. If you’re feeling drained or worn out, or you’re just tired after a really intense practice, give yourself some time to do something relaxing so that you can be refreshed the next day.

Between the long practices and your self-care routine, you’re sure to be ready to show off all your hard work, and WSA has just the place for you to do that. At WSA, we proudly offer all star cheerleading events across the country, allowing different teams to compete and show us what they’ve got.
