How to Make Piercings Close

Closing up a fresh piercing isn't difficult if you take proper care of the puncture. You can also minimalize scarring by tending to the piercing the right way. You will want to let a new piercing close if you change your mind or if you're a teenager whose parents are demanding you get rid of your piercing.

      Remove the jewelry from the piercing. Do not put anything in the piercing. The puncture will not heal if it contains any jewelry. Discard the jewelry.

      Clean the puncture area with warm water and gentle cleansing soap once or twice a day. A cotton ball will work well to clean the area.

      Apply a thin layer of antibiotic cream, such as Neosporin, to the piercing two to five times a day or whenever the area feels dry and scabby. This practice will keep the skin fresh, moist and more apt to produce new layers of skin quickly with minimal scarring. Triple antibiotic cream can help prevent bacteria from infecting the area.
