1
Hire a licensed company for your first bungee jump. The company should provide the location, equipment and instruction. Review the company's references and safety program: the best programs are affiliated with an accredited sports association. An unsafe or uncertified jumping location and crew increase the risk of injury.
-
2
Meet the minimum physical standards for bungee jumping. Your weight-to-height ratio should be within the proper range for the equipment (obtain this range from the company). Consult your physician before jumping if you have breathing problems, circulatory disorders, abnormal blood pressure or heart rate, a prior head injury, back or leg problems or recent surgery or you could be pregnant.
-
3
Plan a group or individual jump and determine how many jumps each person will take. The price for lessons and jumps depends on the number of jumpers and jumps per person.
-
4
Wear regular outdoor clothing or active wear that will not interfere with the harnesses. Refrain from wearing jewelry, glasses, watches, scarves and any other items that could fly off and cause injury or block your breathing and sight.
-
5
Take a comprehensive training course if you intend to continue bungee jumping. Bungee training courses, rescue training sessions and apprenticeships teach how to inspect, maintain and test equipment and perform different types of jumps in various locations.
