Bungee Jumping in Malaysia

Bungee jumping is one of the most popular extreme sports in the world. One appeal of this recreational activity is that an individual can participate in bungee jumping in a countless number of venues with the proper training, planning and equipment setup. Malaysia has developed into one of the most popular locations to jump in the world, mostly in part because of the KL Tower. Standing at about 1,132 feet, it is known to participants as one of the highest jumps off of a suspension tower.

    • One of the most popular towers in the world to jump off of is in the heart of an area called Kuala Lumpur. The Menara KL, also known as the KL Tower, serves as one of the most daring locations in the world for bungee jumping. It is an icon to extreme jumpers who travel from all over the world just to try the tower once. AJ Hackett, who is one of the founders of the sport and later vastly popularized this extreme activity, runs multiple demonstrations and programs at this tower through his organization, AJ Hackett International Group, which is open to more experienced jumpers.

    Sunway Lagoon

    • About an hour away from Kuala Lumpur is a popular theme park called Sunway Lagoon, the first "permanent" bungee jumping location in the country. The attraction, measuring a modest 72 feet high, has been successful since its introduction in late 2009. Knowing that bungee jumping can be costly for an individual to try for the first time, spokespeople of the park have made the attraction very affordable to the public due to a high interest. All participants must be at least 10 years old to participate, with no exceptions.

    The Teruntum Complex

    • The Teruntum Complex is another popular bungee jumping spot, located in the city of Kuantan. It is located on the eastern coast of Malaysia and is definitely one of the newest spots in the country for bungee jumping extraordinaires to test the extreme practice. The tower measures approximately 315 feet high and is located in a heavily populated area. It is only a matter of time that the Teruntum Complex reaches the level of KL Tower's popularity.

    Felda Residence Hotel

    • The Felda Residence Hotel is a so-called undiscovered bungee jumping spot. It is located in the city of Terengganu on the east coast of the country, about 100 miles north of Kuantan. Extremists have been known to base jump off of the top of the hotel along with bungee jumping.

    Menara Alor Star

    • The Menara Alor Star, like the Felda Residence Hotel, is another newer location for bungee jumping in Malaysia. It is located in the city of Kedah, which is on the western coast of the country. Like the KL Tower, the Menara Alor Star is a beautiful Space Needle-like structure that has developed into a notable location for jumpers to venture to.
