1
Determine the intensity of the water ski activity you are participating in. Read or ask about the temperature of the water as warmer and more protective layers are better for higher speeds. Read the weather forecast for the day you ski as exposure to sun and wind requires clothing that negates environmental effects. Know the speed at which you are going to be pulled as higher speeds require protective clothing. All water skiing wear is optional other than a life vest.

2
Put on your first layer of clothing and make sure it is the right size for your body. This includes your bathing suit or rash guards. Tie bathing suit strings with secure knots to avoid chaffing or loss.
-
3
Add a second layer of clothing if necessary such as a wet suit top and bottom. Wear a wet suit that fits snugly against your body. A second layer of clothing is ideal for protection at high speeds and work to keep you warmer.

4
Put your goggles around your head and adjust the strap according to the products instructions. The goggles can rest on your forehead until you are ready to pull off on the skis. Wear properly sized water shoes.
-
5
Put your life vest on and secure the buckles. Next, pull the life vest straps so the vest fits snugly against the layers of clothing under it. Put the life vest on last.
