Rossignol T-Power Viper X Tips

The Rossingnol T-Power Viper X skis were introduced in 2001, as shorter-length carving skis designed for agility, power and speed. The skis feature DualTec, which raises the ski sidewalls higher in the center of the ski to increase edge grip, and Dual VRS between the cap and the sidewalls in the "control zone" ahead of the binding. Suspension Platform Power Steering provides comfort.
  1. Shifting Weight

    • Be careful on moguls, because the T-Power Viper skis are agile and efficient and gain speed fast. Be intentional about speed-checking to stay in control, skiers say. The skis are also sensitive to "sitting back" and shifting weight to the rear.

The skis impressed skiers as a good general-purpose ski, best on groomed slopes, where the skis are very maneuverable. The T-Power Viper X, equipped with PPS on a 181cm length, is as fast as many skiers would want. PPS is an integral metal plate under the binding for good edge-grip.

    Suitability

    • T-Power Viper X is best suited for intermediate skiers, still learning the feel of speed and agility. Experts should also enjoy the Viper X, tearing around the mountainside and taking advantage of the high maneuverability. The skis excel at medium-radius turns and control at higher speeds, while offering stability and arc-holding, skier say. The ski functions well on a variety of terrain and in a variety of conditions. The skis have a limited "sweet spot," however, and require skilled balance-centering to stay in control. This is one reason they're not recommended for beginners.

    Powder

    • The T-Power Viper X skis don't function well on soft powder, preferring to carve groomed and tigher-packed surfaces. Powder-skiing with the Viper X requires a lot of jumping, according to skiers who have used them. The skis seem to preform best at under 6 inches of fresh snow. The Viper X excels at fast, tight turns, however, with a lot of "spring" coming out of the turns.
