How to Make Homemade Indo Board

There's no better training for rough wave riding than an Indo board. Indo boards provide an excellent simulation of good old-fashioned surfing in the comfort of your home. This training aid usually runs upward of $100 on the market. You can make your own Indo board at home for much less.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 33-by-14 inch plywood
  • 2 2-by-14 inch plywood
  • Nails
  • Hammer
  • 4-inch wide, 14-inch long PVC pipe
  • Athletic tape

Instructions

      Lay your 33-by-14 inch plywood flat and lay a piece of the 2-by-14 inch plywood on either side of the board.

      Lay the boards so that the 14-inch length of the 2-by-14 inch piece matches up with the 14-inch of the 33-by-14 inch piece. These smaller pieces of wood serve as stoppers.

      Place two nails on either side of each piece of the stoppers and hammer them in place. Make certain that your nails are not too long.

      Wrap a piece of athletic tape on both ends of the pipe and one piece in the middle. This will create friction.

      Step on the indo board to test friction. Adjust the tape or pipe accordingly.
