Jump Tricks for BMX Dirt Bikes
-
Trail Riding
-
Performing jump tricks on a BMX dirt bike requires trail riding. The BMX dirt jumps themselves consist of large mounds of dirt that are formed by compacting mud. When riding on rugged dirt trails, it is necessary to use a heavier dirt bike with a frame that is more reinforced than a regular BMX bike. BMX dirt bikes used for performing tricks of off dirt jumps, otherwise known as dirty jumping, typically only have rear brakes as well.
Air Tricks
-
Popular air jump tricks for BMX dirt bikes include the backflip, bar turn, can-can, candybar, cliff hanger, flare, front peg grab, Indian air, liquid sword, lookdown, nac-nac, no footer, no hander, rocket hair, suicide clapper, superman seat grab, tabletop and toboggan. Instructions for each jump trick are located in the "References" section.
Competitions
-
With the prominent role of BMX dirt bike jumping in the world of extreme sports, dirt jump bikers can take part in major annual motocross competitions. Whether competing or watching, these motocross competitions demonstrate the top athletic abilities in the world of BMX dirt bike jumping. Some of these competitions include the X Games, the IFMA Freestyle Motocross, the Hangtown National Motocross & Dirt Diggers North Motorcycle Club, the Annual Hawkstone International Motocross and the Annual Motocross Sidecar Spectacular.
Safety Gear
-
As one of the most dangerous sports around, wearing the proper safety gear is essential when BMX dirt bike jumping. In addition to eye wear and helmets, other protection measures include impact deflectors, chest protectors, elbow guards, knee and shin guards, neck braces and support belts. Before attempting any type of BMX dirt bike jump trick, make sure you have the combination of both the necessary experience and protective equipment to stay safe.
