How to Build a Fun Box for BMX

The fun box refers to an obstacle used by BMX riders and skateboarders to perform grinds. BMX riders use the metal pegs protruding from the wheels of the bike to grind the edge of the fun box. The basic design of the fun box consists of a rectangular ledge with a metal or marble edge. Novice BMX riders and skateboarders place ramps on either end of the fun box to roll right onto the edge. Constructing a fun box from cinder blocks remains a cheap and easy design that doesn't require power tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Move your cinder block fun box building materials to an area at which you permission to build a permanent structure. Place one cinder block lengthwise on the ground with the flat surface on top.

    • 2

Apply the construction grade adhesive to the square shaped side of the cinder block. Place another cinder block on the ground lengthwise and press its square side against the adhesive of the first cinder block. Repeat this process until you have four cinder blocks stuck together.

    • 3

Squirt the adhesive onto the top of the flat surface of the four stuck together cinder blocks. Stack four cinder blocks lengthwise on top of the first four to create a structure with eight connected cinder blocks.

    • 4

Apply the adhesive around the edges of the bottom row of cinder blocks. Slide four more cinder blocks lengthwise against the bottom row to create a structure of 12 cinder blocks.

    • 5

Squeeze the liquid adhesive onto the top of the second bottom row of cinder blocks. Stack four cinder blocks on top of the second bottom row to create a structure with two adjacent rows of eight stacked cinder blocks.

    • 6

Apply the construction grade adhesive around the two long edges at the top of the cinder block structure. Place the two pieces of angle iron onto the opposing edges of the cinder block fun box.

    • 7

Lay two cinder blocks on top of each of the angle iron pieces to keep them in place while the adhesive dries. Remove the cinder blocks from the angle iron before using the cinder block fun box.
