Places to Buy Used BMX Bikes
-
Pawn Shops
-
When people think of pawn shops, they often think of a seedy second-hand shop. While this is undoubtedly true in some cases, many pawn shops have a surprisingly varied selection of goods for sale with items ranging from watches and rings to video game consoles and PCs. Depending on when you look and a little bit of luck, most pawn shops carry bikes in some form or another and many families whose children outgrow their BMX bikes or simply do not use them anymore decide to make a little money off their bikes and sell them to a pawn shop.
Of course, just like any other option when buying a used BMX bike, the condition of the bike will vary and you may want to hold out on hopes that you will find a better bike later on.
Online Sellers
-
You can look online for used BMX bikes at dirt cheap prices. While the obvious places to look would be sporting goods stores and eBay, there are other websites that you should look at. Amazon allows users to sell their used items through its website, and there are specific websites such as Total Bike Classifieds, which is a classifieds website in the vain of Craigslist that caters specifically to bicycles, including BMX bikes.
Sporting Goods Stores
-
While not a practice for all sporting goods stores, many stores will buy and sell used equipment. This includes BMX bikes, which are sold at a small discount. However, due to the very strict standards for used equipment at many sporting goods outlets, the discount will be minimal. The trade-off to the near-new price is that, for a used BMX bike, the quality will be top-notch. National sporting goods chains such as Modells and Dick's Sporting Goods will often resell BMX bikes that were bought from them but returned.
