How to Break in Motocross Boots

Protective gear is essential for every motocross rider; however, new motocross boots might be stiff and uncomfortable until you break them in. Instructions

    • 1

Place one oven baking rack in the lowest position. Lay a piece of aluminum foil over the rack to catch any conditioner that may drip from motocross boots.

    • 2

Place the next oven baking rack in the position above the bottom rack. This should allow enough room to place motocross boots on the rack.

    • 3

Preheat a cooking oven to "warm" or the lowest temperature setting, preferably between 125-150 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 4

Use your hand or a soft cloth to apply a leather softener, such as mink oil, to motocross boots. Apply the conditioner evenly and generously.

    • 5

Place the motocross boots in the preheated oven and close the door. Set the timer for 60 minutes.

    • 6

Remove the motocross boots when the timer goes off and turn off the oven. Set your motocross boots on newspaper to return to room temperature. Walking around in the boots will accomplish additional breaking in.
