1
Run the engine for about five minutes to warm the oil. Any longer than that could make the oil too hot. Park the Honda Rancher on a level surface and turn off the engine.
-
2
Place the oil pan under the oil plug which is located at the bottom center of your Honda Rancher ATV. The skid plate of the ATV will be between you and the oil plug, however the circular holes on the skid plate allow for easy access to the oil plug. Remove the plug with your socket wrench and let the oil drain into the prepositioned oil pan.

Place a towel below the filter casing which is located on the right hand side of the engine. Using the socket wrench remove the three small bolts which attach the lid to the filter casing. Once the lid is removed, oil will spill out of the casing and onto your towel. Remove the oil filter. Wipe down any excess oil which may have spilled on the engine.

4
Insert the new oil filter into the filter casing. Reattach the lid using the three bolts and socket wrench.
-
5
Reattach the drain plug on the underbelly of the Honda Rancher. Remove the oil pan from underneath the ATV.
-
6
Unscrew the cap to the oil tank. Using the funnel, pour in two quarts of new four-stroke ATV oil. Reattach the oil cap, and check for proper oil level using the dip stick located near the filter casing.
