1987 Kawasaki Mojave 250 Specs

Manufactured from 1987 through 2004, the Kawasaki Mojave is one of longest running entry level four-wheel off-road vehicles. Over the years, Kawasaki redesigned the four-wheeler several times to incorporate new technology. The 1987 Kawasaki Mojave 250 had features that were cutting edge for four wheelers of the 1980s, such as a liquid cooling system.
  1. Engine

    • The 1987 Mojave has a liquid cooled SOHC engine and a Kelvin CVK34 carburetor.. A liquid-cooled engine was rare for engines designed in 1987, as most four-wheeler engines were air cooled. The Mojave engine produced 28 horsepower.

    Fuel Consumption

    • The Mojave 250 requires regular non-leaded gasoline and has the capacity to hold 2.2 gallons of fuel. Later Kawasaki models used fuel injection but the 1987 Mojave's carburetor allows the rider to adjust fuel settings via jet replacement rather than ECU controllers.

    Drivetrain

    • The 1987 Mojave 250 has a five-speed transmission with a reverse gear. It uses a manual multi-disc wet clutch. This is the standard transmission configuration for most four-wheelers of that era.

    Dimensions

    • The Mojave weighs 329 pounds, has a wheel base of 44.1 inches and a seat height of 28.9 inches. It is 68 inches long and 41.2 inches wide. The Mojave was considered a mid-sized ATV compared to other ATVs being produced in 1987.
