1
Submit the bill of sale, if you are a new owner, or registration document and your state-issued identification card to the representative at the appropriate state department. In many states, the Department of Motor Vehicles will handle watercrafts. Ensure that the bill of sale includes the name and signatures of the previous owner(s) in the seller field and your full name in the buyer field. Current owners can submit the registration document.

2
Complete the registration paperwork at the department to register the jet ski, if it is not already. Enter the owner's full name, address and the hull identification number on the paperwork. The hull number is usually visible on the front end of the jet ski, on the bill of sale or on the registration document.

Pay the required registration and titling fees. Once the paperwork is processed, you will receive a new title in the mail.
