How to Launch a Jet Ski

Knowing how to properly launch a Jet Ski can determine the difference between a fun day at the lake and fishing your Jet Ski out of the water. Jet Skis have changed drastically since Kawasaki began mass production in 1973, but their pivoting-handle and stand-up style has remained an integral part of the design. Although it's not necessary, launching a Jet Ski is easier if you have another person to stay with the craft in the water while you park your vehicle and trailer.

Instructions

    • 1

Line your vehicle and trailer up so they are perpendicular to the water above the boat ramp. Back the trailer down the boat ramp, stopping before the Jet Ski enters the water.

    • 2

Step out of your vehicle. Untie the trailer tie-downs and tighten the water plugs on the rear of the Jet Ski.

    • 3

Rotate the fuel valve knob on the right side of the Jet Ski to the "On" position.

    • 4

Get back into your vehicle and back the trailer and Jet Ski into the water until most of the trailer is in the water and the Jet Ski is floating.

    • 5

Remove the tie-down from the front of the Jet Ski and push it off from the trailer. Tie the Jet Ski to the dock or a sturdy object, if launching it alone.

    • 6

Drive the vehicle and empty trailer forward and out of the water.
