How to Put a Wear Ring in a 1995 Sea-Doo

The jet pump on the 1995 Sea-Doo personal watercraft is one of the main propulsion components. The impeller of the Sea-Doo is connected to it. Situated around the impeller is a metal ring-like piece called a wear ring. Its job is to essentially protect the inside of the impeller housing if the impeller gets off track. During normal servicing of the jet pump it's not a bad idea to change out the wear ring too.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the socket set to remove the three retaining nuts holding the impeller cover in place on the outside of the jet pump assembly.

    • 2

Tap on the cover gently with the mallet once the screws are loose and pull it off. Remove the two O-rings below it too.

    • 3

Turn the impeller boot to the right by hand to loosen and remove it.

    • 4

Use the socket set to remove the impeller nut in the middle of the impeller and then slide the impeller out.

    • 5

Insert the screwdriver into the Sea-Doo screws on the outside of the pump housing that hold the wear ring in place. Take the old wear ring out and put the new one in place. Slip the pump cover retaining screws back in and tighten them with the screwdriver.

Set the impeller back into place and then replace the impeller nut with the socket set. Also twist the impeller boot back on by hand by turning it to the left.

Replace the O-rings, and then snap the impeller cover into position by hand. Set the pump housing back into place and replace the three pump housing retaining screws.
