The North Divide
-
The North Divide is an OHV trail in Pike National Forest. Here, riders can enjoy several miles of trails rated as being moderately difficult. Because it is within the National Forest, all OHVs, including snowmobiles, must have a current state registration or current license plates. This trail is a multi-use trail, so snowmobile riders are advised to exercise caution, especially when cresting hills or rounding bends. This Teller County trail is about 40 miles from Monument.
Captain Jacks Trail
-
The Captain Jacks Trail in El Paso County is about 20 miles from Monument. This trail winds through and around Pike National Forest. Also known as Jones Park Trail #667, this trail extends for three and a half miles, and is shared by snowmobile riders, mountain bikers, hikers and others. Riders are required to have registered vehicles, and to follow all posted signs and rules.
Rampart Range
-
About 25 miles from Monument is the Rampart Range OHV Park. It has more than 22 designated OHV trails that range in elevation from 6,500 feet to more than 8,500 feet. Rampart Range has over 100 miles of trails that vary in difficulty from beginner to expert. Because it is located within a national forest, riders are required to have a permitted or properly licensed OHV. Because this park's trails are shared by several OHVs, snowmobile riders are encouraged to exercise caution.
Independence Trail System
-
The Independence Trail System is organized and operated by the Colorado Rockhoppers, founded in 1997, in conjunction with the Bureau of Land Management. Its most difficult trails have names like Freedom, Liberty and Patriot. These Fremont County trails are maintained by volunteers at least twice a year. The trails are ranked and signed according to difficulty, and are open most weekends during the year.
