How to Install Future Fins

Future fins systems allow you to interchange the fins in your surfboard to tailor your board's performance to the conditions of the waves and your body type. They also make it easy for you to store your board or bring it with you on vacation because you can remove the fins. While fin designs are based on advanced hydrodynamic design, you don't have to be an experienced surfer to install the fins to the Future boxes on your board.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your board over so the deck is facing down and the fin boxes are exposed.

    • 2

Align the left fin with the Future fin box on the left side of the board so that the rounded side of the fin is facing the rail of the boards and a flat side is facing inward.

    • 3

Insert the back end of the Future fin into the box and pull it back toward you so the indent on the fin is wedged beneath the pin in the fin box. Tilt the front of the fin forward until it fits into the fin box. Place the screw on the end of the fin key and insert it into the screw hole on the front of the fin box. Turn the fin key clockwise until the screw catches with the front of the fin.

Place the center fin with both rounded edges into the fin box in the same fashion as the left fin. Insert the screw into the hole on the front of the box and tighten the screw with the fin key. Complete this process with the right fin to complete the installation of your Future fins.
