How to Semi Flip

The semi flip is an advanced aerial skateboard trick that combines a kick flip with a varial heel flip. The board is launched into the air as if in a standard kick flip, but after only one-quarter rotation of the board the varial maneuver is used to send the board spinning back-to-front in addition to the rotation along its length. Learning to perform a semi flip can be frustrating, but once mastered you will be able to do a trick that never fails to impress.

Instructions

    • 1

Skate forward with your lead foot centered along the length of the board with your toe angled forward and your rear foot at the beginning of the back crease with only your toes on the board.

    • 2

Press down on the heel of the board with your rear foot.

    • 3

Lean your front foot forward so the side of your foot is touching the board and slide it off the board at an angle, initiating a kick flip.

    • 4

Allow the board to rotate 90 degrees so the wheels are pointing in the same direction as your body.

    • 5

Lift your lead foot up so it is above the height of the board.

    • 6

Move your rear foot forward, lightly flicking the board so it spins parallel to the ground.

    • 7

Place your feet on the board as you land and adjust your weight behind the center of the board but in front of the tail. Flex your legs as you land.
