How to Feather Flip

Feather flips are among the most difficult skate boarding tricks to master. A feather flip starts off like a kick flip, which is a trick where you jump, flipping the board 360 degrees in the air and land on it. However, with a feather flip, you're not just flipping the board, you're catching it between your feet as well. the key to mastering this trick, aside from patience and practise, is to start with the correct positioning of your feet and to exert the correct amount of pressure on the board.

Place your back foot in the back groove of the board, placing your foot parallel to the groove of the skateboard. Place your front foot ahead of it, but just below the front groove of the board off to the right or left side. You need to keep your front foot away from your back foot in order to initiate the flip.

Scoop your board upward, not by jumping, but by exerting pressure onto the board with your back foot. This will take your board up, your front foot up and off the board, and your back foot slightly up, though still along the grip tape.

Hit your front foot against the tail of the board, moving your front foot extremely fast to get over the grip tape, moving your back foot back against the bolts of the board on the bottom. At the end, your back foot will be under the board, just above the back wheels and your front foot will be where your back foot was, on the back groove of the board.
