1
Lower the hard outer shell of the skateboarding helmet over the crown of your head. Fasten the buckle of the safety straps beneath your chin. Adjust the straps if necessary to guarantee a snug yet comfortable fit.
-
2
Place your skateboard on the flat bottom of a 6- to 8-foot mini-ramp. Thrust off the ramp with your dominant foot to roll the board forward. Bend your knees as you ascend the concave ramp face.
-
3
Extend your legs as you roll backward across the flat bottom. Bend your knees as you roll up the opposing wall. Repeat the process to master a ramp skating technique known as pumping.
-
4
Locate a nearby training facility that features a 15- to 18-foot half pipe. Lower your wheels onto the roll-in section of the ramp. Bend your knees to a 45-degree angle as you descend the roll-in.
-
5
Lean forward to ensure a balanced riding stance. Perform the pumping technique as you roll across the flat bottom of the ramp. Push down on the tail of the skateboard as you reach the apex of the ramp.
-
6
Rotate your shoulders while lifting the front two wheels off the face of the ramp. Turn the board 180 degrees to roll down the ramp in a forward-facing riding stance. Practice these ramp riding techniques for eight months to one year before attempting to ride the mega ramp.
