How to Make a Ramp for Flip Tricks

While novice skateboarders may prefer to keep their wheels on the ground, advanced riders spend their time mastering aerial flip tricks. A flip trick is defined as a maneuver that involves manipulating the wooden skateboard with your feet. Many flip tricks involve kicking your toes against the inner edge of the board. This flip trick, known as the kickflip, is often performed off inclined kicker ramps. According to Thrasher Magazine, skate ramps for flip tricks often feature a wooden construction.

Instructions

    • 1

Transport your ramp building supplies to a low-traffic area that features a smooth asphalt terrain. Lower your two cinder blocks onto the ground in a horizontal position. Spread the cinder blocks 3.5 feet apart.

    • 2

Apply the adhesive to the top of the cinder blocks. Flip the cinder blocks upside down. Allow the adhesive to dry for 1 hour to ensure the cinder blocks have been secured to the asphalt.

    • 3

Lower the 4-foot edge of the plywood onto the cinder blocks. Slide a few bricks under the plywood to function as a supportive foundation. Place the sheet metal over the opposing edge of the plywood that touches the ground.

    • 4

Hammer a nail into the top left and right corner of the sheet metal to create a roll-up for your skate ramp. Skate up the ramp at a slow speed to ensure it features a stable construction. Utilize the ramp to learn new flip tricks and variations.
