How to Fix Skate Shoes

While top-of-the-line skate shoes are constructed of high-quality materials such as leather and suede, entry-level shoes feature a canvas or fabric design. Skate shoes are designed to protect your feet from the sandpaper-like grip tape that is applied to the top of the skateboard. If you skate on a regular basis, your shoes will most likely form small holes near the toe section. Utilize a polyurethane-based adhesive to repair the holes in your skateboarding shoes. Biosafe Inc. recommends allowing the adhesive to dry for 24 hours before skating in the newly repaired shoes.

Instructions

    • 1

Trim off any stray pieces of fabric from your skate shoes using a pair of scissors. Insert your nondominant hand into your damaged shoe. Rub around the damaged areas of your shoes with a piece of fine-grain sandpaper.

    • 2

Remove the lid from the polyurethane-based adhesive. Puncture the seal of the adhesive with the scissors. Squeeze the adhesive directly onto the damaged areas of your skate shoes.

    • 3

Smooth the adhesive over your shoes with a cotton swab. Allow the adhesive to dry for 24 hours to create a protective barrier over the holes in your skate shoes. Test your newly repaired skate shoes at a local skate park.
