Skateboard Events in Michigan

Michigan skateboard events range from easy competition to money-making competition. Some of these competitions are open to amateurs and professionals. These events generally take place in summer, and visitors can come and watch exhibitions by local, national and international skateboarders. Skateboarders also have an unofficial international holiday, which is celebrated in Michigan.
  1. AGA Summer Skate Park Series

    • The Adrenaline Games Alliance Summer Skate Park Series runs from May through September, and this contest is open to amateurs and professionals. These events take place in several cities around Michigan, including Dearborn Heights, Grand Haven, Detroit, Ludington, Holly and Traverse City. AGA also provides skate clinics for new skateboarders. Prizes include cash, free skateboarding products and points that go toward individual skater's standings. One of the competitions is best trick by a skateboarder. The AGA also hosts events for other sports, including BMX, wake, moto X, snowboard and snowboard X, and these events take place throughout the entire year.

    Skate Park Jam

    • The Skate Park Jam is a free event for contestants and spectators, and it has four skill levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert. The contest involves skateboarding, inline skating and BMX. This is a one-day, all-day event. The event also has a best trick contest, which awards cash prizes and is open to all skateboarders. Trophies and gift certificates are awarded to the top three finishers. T-shirts will be given to both winners and finalists in each division. The event takes place at the Michigan City Skate Park.

    Go Skateboarding Day

    • Go Skateboarding Day is an unofficial holiday for skateboard enthusiasts, and this event takes place around the world. In Michigan, it takes place at the South Street Skate Park in Rochester. The event celebrates the passion and the creativity of skateboarders, and the Rochester event includes food, a gear sale, raffles and all-day skating in the skate park for a flat fee. Skateboarders will demonstrate their skills to spectators and other skateboarders. This event has been every June 21 since 2003. Skateboarders are encouraged to take off of work and skip other activities on this day.
