How to Ride a RipStik Skateboard

1
Gain your balance on the board by holding onto a stationary object and trying to stand. Shift your weight until it's in the middle of the board. Once you can stand for a minute or two and are comfortable, you're ready to try to ride.
-
2
Start at the top of a small incline or hill. It will be easier to stay balanced with the momentum of the movement. Have someone walk beside you and hold you so you can get started as you go forward.
-
3
Shift your feet back and forth to gain speed---your feet should remain on the board as you twist your body at your waist. Push your toes down on your right foot while pushing your heel down on your left foot. Continue alternating so that you push your toes down on one foot while pushing your heel on the other. Your movements will be small at first but will get larger as you move forward.
-
4
Stretch your arms out and try to stay balanced on your own. This will require balance and practice. Once you can go down the small hill successfully, you can begin riding on flat surfaces and propelling the board uphill.
-
5
Lean on your front foot to turn the board in the direction that you wish to go; this will turn the wheel by applying pressure. The back wheel should go in the opposite direction to prevent you from going in a parallel direction and falling.
-
6
Turn the board to make a large circle and lean forward on both toes to stop the board. The faster you point your toes down, the faster the board will stop.
