How to Adjust a Spin Bike Seat

Proper saddle adjustment is important for maximum power, comfort and posture while riding a spinning bike. The adjustments for a spinning bike saddle will vary from rider to rider, which is why it's so important to know how to adequately adjust a spin bike seat to meet your individual needs.

Instructions

    • 1

Stand next to the bike and move the seat either up or down so that the upper edge of the seat is about 1 inch lower than your hip bone. Adjust the seat by turning the height adjustment knob counterclockwise, and pull the knob out to release the knob's pin from the hole to move the seat up or down.

    • 2

Lock your desired adjustment in place by turning the knob clockwise.

    • 3

Position your forearm horizontally in the space between the tip of the saddle and the handlebars. Adjust the seat either forward or back by turning the adjustment knob counterclockwise to unlock the seat, and pull the knob's handle out to release the pin from the hole to adjust the seat position forward or back. The seat is in the correct position if your fingertips touch the middle of the handlebars and your elbow touches the tip, or nose, of the saddle. Lock your desired adjustment in place by turning the knob clockwise.

    • 4

Get on the bike and pedal in a circular motion, keeping a slight bend in the knee at the bottom of your pedal stroke. Keep your kneecap directly above the center of the pedal.

    • 5

Adjust the seat so that your front kneecap is vertically in line with the pedal axle or crank as you sit on the bike. If your knee is pushed too far forward, then move your seat back a little.
