While most people remain concerned with the top half of the body looking good they forget that the legs and feet need exercise as well. While this article may cover walking exercises, there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it as well. Walking exercises are not in the same group as you walking throughout the grocery store. They also don't involve your everyday routines. Walking exercises are best described as distances, like walking around the track at your neighborhood school 3 or 4 times as I explain further.

Begin by choosing a definite plan you want to stick to for your walking exercises. If you decide to begin walking around a track start with 2 laps and week by week work in another lap as you go. Walking exercises work because they help to get the blood back circulating in the feet and legs. An easily understood example is a runner constantly only running 1 mile. Eventually the body will become use to this routine and stop losing weight along with gaining any new muscle. Regular walking patterns have the same meaning being that your body becomes use to what you normally do. Therefore you have to increase your actions just like the jogger by adding new walking exercises that you normally don't do.

Start your walking exercises slowly if your feet a very swollen. Don't try and over do it, but you must take action to lessen the problem.

Make sure you have comfortable shoes to walk in. When you put your shoes on leave the laces loose. Don't tie the walking shoes too tight, because this will only increase the pressure on your feet. Instead your walking shoes should almost be to the point of slipping off, but snug enough to not rub a blister on your feet and heels.

Begin your walking exercises at the same time everyday to stay on track. If you have to get up a bit earlier to fit your walking in set the clock so you can get up. You have to be your own boss when it comes to sticking to your walking exercises in order for them to be successful.

After you finish your walking everyday don't just go home and plop down for the night. Remember this action may be a potential cause as to why you feet are swollen now. Do a few small chores around the house to wind down.
One final tip to do every night after your walking exercises is to remove your socks. Socks restrict the blood flow around the feet and ankles especially tight fitting ones which will do more harm than good.
