How to Attach the Leg Bench on a Bowflex

The Bowflex is a home gym machine that utilizes resistance supplied by rods and cables, rather than weights. The Bowflex Power Pro comes with an optional leg extension. With the extension, you can perform exercises such as the seated leg extension and the prone leg curl. The leg extension attaches to the Bowflex at the end of the seat rail.

Instructions

    • 1

Rotate the pivot arm bracket, so that the small extension that will hold the pivot arm points outward. The bracket is attached to the main frame of the leg extension with a pre-installed bolt.

    • 2

Use one 5/16-by-2-inch hex bolt and one 5/16-inch lock nut, to secure the pivot arm bracket to the main frame of the leg extension. Tighten with 5/16-inch wrenches. Check the pre-installed bolt to make sure it is secure. Tighten if necessary.

    • 3

Use one 5/16-by-2-inch hex bolt and one 5/16-inch lock nut, to secure the leg extension foot to the end of the main frame of the leg extension. Tighten with 5/16-inch wrenches.

    • 4

Line up the "L" brackets on the bottom of the seat with two holes on the main frame of the leg extension. Secure the seat to the main frame using two 5/16-by-2-inch hex bolts and two 5/16-inch lock nuts. Tighten with 5/16-inch wrenches. The tapered end of the seat should point toward the pivot arm bracket.

    • 5

Insert one metal tube into each end of the pivot arm. Center the tubes in the holes. Tighten the pre-installed screw with a screwdriver to secure the top tube. Be careful not to overtighten it. Secure the bottom tube with the rubber bumper bolt.

    • 6

Insert and center the third metal tube into the middle hole in the pivot arm bracket. Slide one foam pad onto each end of the metal tube. Attach an end cap to each end of the metal tube, to secure the foam pads.

    • 7

Align the hole in the middle of the pivot arm assembly to the hole on the pivot arm bracket. Insert an M10 Allen head bolt through the hole. Use an M10 lock nut to secure the pivot arm assembly to the pivot arm bracket. Tighten the lock nut with a 5/16-inch wrench and the included Allen wrench, but make sure to allow a smooth pivoting motion when the assembly is moved. There should be no side-to-side movement.

    • 8

Slide the seat on the Bowflex, to expose the end of the seat rail.

    • 9

Place the leg extension seat bracket on the end of the seat rail on the Bowflex. Secure the seat bracket to the seat rail with the "L" pin.

    • 10

Align the pulleys on the leg extension, so they are parallel to the ground and point toward the Bowflex.

    • 11

Thread the leg extension cable through the pulley. Attach one end of the cable to the metal tube on the leg extension that is closest to the Bowflex, using the loop on the end of the cable. Attach the other end of the leg extension cable to the Bowflex cables, using the snap hook.

    • 12

Slide a foam pad onto each end of the remaining metal tubes on the leg extension. Secure the pads by inserting end caps into the ends of the metal tubes.
