How to Level a Stairmaster Climber

A Stairmaster climber that feels wobbly when you exercise on it is not safe to use. Even if the amount of wobbling seems relatively trivial, it can cause you to lose your balance while using the machine. Leveling the Stairmaster climber takes only a few minutes, and you can do it with little more than an adjustable wrench.

Stand on the rearmost bar of the Stairmaster climber, with your feet positioned near the upright poles behind the foot pads you stand on to use the machine. Grasp the rails of the climber, and then shift your body weight from side to side, to determine which foot of the climber is out of balance. If the climber feels like it shifts forward to the left and back to the right, those two feet require adjustment. The opposite is true of the other two feet.

Lay on the floor beside the climber, so you can access the adjustable feet on the bottom of the climber's support bars. Pick up slightly on the climber, to make adjusting the foot a little easier. It should rock upward slightly as you push up on it.

Adjust the foot by sliding the adjustable wrench over the foot's adjusting nut and turning it several times. Too much adjustment will cause the climber to go off-level at the other corners.

Position yourself at the opposite foot, and do the same. This time, however, simply adjust the foot until it is snug with the floor. Then stand on the rear bar again, and shift your weight around to make certain that the Stairmaster is correctly leveled. If not, continue adjusting the feet until the machine is leveled to your satisfaction.
