How to Troubleshoot a Specialized Bicycle Computer
Instructions
-
-
1
Charge the battery if the bicycle computer makes cycling sounds and the back-light becomes deactivated. Verify that the battery is charged sufficiently if a "Check Power" or similar power warning message is displayed.
-
2
Press and hold down the "Stop" or similar "Pause" or "Hold" button until the time of day is displayed if the menu data or location seems unrecognizable.
-
3
Check the bicycle computer's basic settings if burned calories are not calculated. Check that you are wearing the transmitter; otherwise, the burned-calorie tracking option will not work correctly.
-
4
Reset the bicycle computer if it seems to freeze up. Refer to your owner's manual. You may have to press multiple buttons to reset the device.
-
5
Check the computer distance from the transmitter if the heart rate reading displays zeros or a very high number. Verify that the bicycle computer-to-transmitter distance does not exceed what is recommended. A maximum distance of 131 feet or 40 meters apart is common.
-
6
Check the transmitter belt and ensure that is is secure.
-
7
Check that the textile electrodes in the exercise clothing fit snugly.
-
8
Verify that both the transmitter and exercise clothing are clean.
-
9
Verify that the electrodes of the transmitter and exercise clothing are moistened.
-
10
Calibrate the altimeter if altitude readings are inaccurate. Air conditioning and strong wind may have caused interference. If dirt blocks the air pressure channels, faulty readings may display. Take the bicycle computer in for service if the altimeter fails to read correctly.
-
11
Transfer data to the bicycle computer's software to free up space if a "Memory Low," "Memory Full," or similar memory-related message is displayed.
