adiZero Kangaroo Leather Care Tips

The adiZero F50 leather is a shoe manufactured by Adidas, endorsed and worn by soccer star Leo Messi. Kangaroo leather is used in its construction due to its extremely lightweight nature. However due to the thin nature of Kangaroo leather, it does sacrifice durability compared to other leathers.

  1. Prepping Before Use

    • Before wearing your adiZeros for the first time, treat and polish them with a water-resistant clear shoe polish. This will soften and seal the leather which helps protect it from moisture. Remove the laces and any other items that you do not want to get polish on. Begin breaking them in before playing a game in your new footwear by wearing them around the house. This allows the leather to stretch and conform to contours of your foot.

    Post-Game Care

    • After the game, knock off any accumulated dirt and mud from the shoes; as mud dries, it can draw moisture out of the leather, which can cause it to crack. Fill the inside of the shoes with newspaper and place them in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Make sure not to overstuff, as this can distort the shape of the shoe as it dries.

    Cleaning Your AdiZeros

    • Clean your adiZeros once they are dry by brushing and wiping them inside and out. Use a toothbrush to remove dirt from seams and where it is caked into crevices. Next, clean the surface using warm water. Wipe the leather dry with a clean cloth, then allow the adiZeros to dry naturally in a well-ventilated room. Do not place in direct sunlight or near any heat source as this can cause the kangaroo leather to dry, crack and shrink.

    Post-Cleaning and Storage

    • Treat your adiZeros with a leather conditioner once they are dry from cleaning. After conditioning, apply a coat of water-resistant clear shoe polish to the leather portions. Store your adiZeros in a breathable shoe bag or ventilated box, away from direct sunlight or heat. Never store your adiZeros in a plastic bag or airtight container. This traps moisture and can cause mold and very unpleasant odors.
