How to Oil a NordicTrack Power Tread

Power Tread is an older model series of NordicTrack treadmills. The walking belt on a Power Tread treadmill needs lubricating regularly to keep the belt from sticking and slowing down. Use 100 percent silicone oil in a gel form. Each tube is typically equal to one application, which is about 1.5 oz of lubricant. Feel the back of the walking belt. If it feels dry to the touch, take a few minutes to lubricate it.

Instructions

    • 1

Use an Allen wrench to turn the bolts in the rear end-caps counterclockwise until the walking belt is loose enough for you to slide your hands under it. The rear end-caps are on the back of the walking deck, one on each side of the treadmill. Each end-cap has a recess with the adjustment bolt. Loosen both bolts the same number of turns. Count and note how many times you turn each bolt.

    • 2

Wipe of the walking deck under the belt with a clean, soft cloth.

    • 3

Start at the front of the treadmill. Lift the belt on the right side and squeeze the lube on the platform in a line all the way to the back of the belt.

    • 4

Move to the left side and repeat Step 3.

    • 5

Tighten the adjustment bolts, turning each bolt the same number as you did in Step 1.

    • 6

Run the belt at 2 to 3 mph for about 5 minutes, but don't walk on the belt yet. This spreads the oil across the deck. Walk on the treadmill for 5 minutes at a slow speed.
