The ProForm 700 elliptical machine offers two ways for you to adjust the intensity of your workout. It has 10 levels of digital pedal resistance that you change using the up and down resistance buttons on the console. It also has a pacing coach that encourages you to pedal faster or slower. The large pedals have five position settings on the pedal bar. Move the pedals forward or backward to change the feel of the exercise.
Programs

The ProForm 700 elliptical machine sports six built-in workout programs. All six programs automatically adjust the pedal resistance for you and prompt you to increase or decrease your pace. The 700 elliptical divides each workout into 20 one-minute periods. Two of the programs are heart-rate control workouts. The first heart-rate control program changes the workout intensity to maintain your heart rate between 65 and 85 percent of your maximum heart rate. The second program keeps your heart rate between 65 and 80 percent of your maximum heart rate. The treadmill calculates your maximum heart rate using the "220 minus your age" equation.
Console

The console provides feedback about your current workout session. It shows your speed, elapsed time, distance, resistance level, approximate calories burned, heart rate and watts, which is a measure of energy output. Two pace bars are on the right side of the display. The left pace bar represents your exercise pace; it adds bars when you pedal faster and removes them as you pedal slower. The right pace bar is the target pace that displays when you are using the built-in programs. This is your goal pace.
iFit Technology

The ProForm 700 elliptical machine features iFit interactive technology. Connect your treadmill to your stereo, computer or CD player with the included audio cable. Purchase iFit workout CDs separately or download workouts from the iFit.com website. The voice of a personal trainer guides you through your workout, encouraging you to change your pace, while the treadmill automatically adjusts the pedal resistance for you.
