Stand in front of a cable crossover machine with each arm of the machine to your left and right. Take one arm of the machine and pull the spring-loaded pin, which is attached to a circular plate. Use your free hand to adjust the height to where you need it. For example, if you want to perform chest flys, you will raise or lower each arm to check height.

Make sure the pin is secure in its positioning at the number of your choice. Adjust if necessary to fit the pin snugly into the hole. Check the pin each time you move an arm because at times the pin will not insert itself all the way and will shake and become unstable while you perform your exercise.

Adjust the opposite arm to match the other arm by again releasing the spring-loaded pin and using your free hand to move it to chest level.

Maneuver the adjustable arms on the vertical plane as necessary. Place the arms at the bottom for exercises such as curls and position them at the top for exercises such as triceps pushdowns.
