1
Consult your physician before beginning any exercise program, especially if you have certain health conditions that might affect your ability to exercise. This might require that you work with a physical therapist or a trainer to craft a exercise regimen that works best for you.
-
2
Build up to running or jogging if you are not already a fairly active person. Start by walking a certain distance several days each week. This should be done before you incorporate the weights.
-
3
Use a lightweight wrist weight, under 1 lb. ideally. When you add weights, either to your wrists or legs, you are placing additional stress to your joints, therefore it is not advisable for people with degenerative joint conditions to use wrist or ankle weights when exercising.
