How to Run With a Camelbak

The Camelbak hydration system offers runners an easy way to stay hydrated on their long distance runs. A Camelbak pack allows the runner to train without the inconvenience of holding water bottles in their hands or having them strapped to their hips. With a little bit of adjustment, you can keep the Camelbak flush with your, back so that you won't even remember it's there. For best results, purchase a Camelbak pack that is designed specifically for trail running, such as the Camelbak Octane LR Hydration Pak.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill the Camelbak with water. Remove the inner bladder from the Camelbak. Unscrew the lid and fill the bladder with water. Screw the lid on tightly and re-insert it into the Camelbak pack.

    • 2

Loop the Camelbak's straps over your shoulders. Adjust the length by sliding the strap through the buckles, so that the Camelbak sits comfortably over your spine and rests approximately 3 inches below the tops of your shoulders.

    • 3

Buckle the chest strap across your chest. Adjust the length of the chest strap by sliding the strap through the buckle, until the strap is flush with your chest.

    • 4

Test the pack by jogging in place to make sure it is securely tightened to your body. For comfort while running, you want the pack to move as little as possible. Make adjustments if necessary.

    • 5

Clip the Camelbak tubing into the designated hook on the shoulder strap.

    • 6

Unhook the tubing during your run and suck on the mouthpiece to retrieve water. Re-hook the tubing to the shoulder strap when finished.
